This I Believe
This I Believe
Carter McQuinn
Have you ever had something bad happen to you? Have you ever just looked at the good part of it and made it better. I try to always do this and for this reason I believe in always looking at the bright side. Any situation can be made better if you just try to focus on the better part.
When I was 12 years old I learned how to do a backflip on my skis. My first one I got too excited, over rotated and broke my collar bone. It was the year that I started competing in the older group of kids and I was really sad that I couldn't ski the rest of the season. This was pretty sad to me at the time but I knew complaining wouldn't heal it so I just looked forwards to when it healed and was able to train that summer and realize that it could have been worse.
It's something that each time you have a chance to, you should. Another everyday thing that I use this in is homework. Going home and having to do homework is a bummer especially when I could go do something way better. But again, I have to do it so why not just do it and think about how I get to go do whatever I want. I actually think it makes your next activity more enjoyable because you have accomplished something before you go mess around.
Even small things like going on a bike ride and it starts raining you can just say well at least I still got to ride for a little bit. In general, complaining about things won’t help at all and if anything it will make it worse. And being in a bad attitude is not good at all so just try to stay positive. Like the quote “Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened”. Look at the good things in life, forget the imperfections that you can and it will all be okay. Every little unhappy thing that happens is never as bad as you think it is. And for this I believe in looking on the better side of every and any situation.

Project Reflection
This I believe essay is an essay from my point of view about something that I strongly believe in and that has had some effect on my life. For the final project we had an essay and a recording of us reading it.It was a cool project because I got to chose what I wanted to write about and how personal I was going to make it. It is a project that you can make very meaningful and personal so it was not hard to come up with a good idea on how to start.
I prepared for this writing by thinking about things that have happened in my life that are important to me and what beliefs or thoughts influenced me in these times. I had a few different ideas but I chose this one as one I could connect with the most.
The hardest part of this project to me was coming up with meaningful stories that showed what I believe. This was hard in the beginning but once I started having ideas I had couple topics to choose from. The way that I feel I improved in my writing skills during this project was min making a very short story that still had meaning and was not cut short or trying to put too much information into few words. I don't think I would do anything differently next time on this project except maybe make a better outline. I started with just some ideas and tried to write my essay. After a little while I had redone it enough times to make it good but I think next time it would be better to make a good outline and write and revise less times.
My favorite part of this project was that I could use whatever idea I wanted to make this essay. Any idea or belief I had I could have used. I am proudest of my essay in that it is about a very relatable concept. When someone reads my essay I think that the points would be hard to argue with. My concept is generally believed in everyday life so I feel that it is good that it relates to a lot of people. During this project I realized how many different things I believe in.
